Information from Joann MacDonald (412 Belfast Av, Modesto, CA 95354, USA) in July 1991, gave me a tree for Richard Grant, born @1797 in Co Kilkenny. The 1821 Census (in Irish Ancestor 1976) shows that John Grant of Portnascully had a son Richard born in that year. Given that Richard Grant is not a common name, and that it was used for a long time by the "Aglish" branch, this would seem to be the man.

He emmigrated to Prince Edward Island in Canada about 1821, it is though without relatives. He married Ann Morrissey (she was born on P.E.I. in 1797). He was a Roman Catholic, as were his family. They farmed on leased land. And they had either 10 or 12 children. Mary (b.1841) was the greatgrandmother of Joann MacDonald. She is not sure if Joanna and Patrick were also Richard's children.

Walter, Michael, Richard and possibly Patrick went to Australia, where Patrick is supposed to have remained. The other three came back to P.E.I. Michael and Richard died as young men
