This information was from Jack Smallhorn, a descendant of the Joshua Smallhorn to Sarah Blanc marriage below. Jack Smallhorn was a contemporary of my grandfather CW Grant, and visited 20 Rathgar Road in the period my great grandfather Thomas Grant lived there. He also knew Ethel (CW Grant's sister), the Luttrells and Lees in Portarlington as he grew up in Portarlington.

And the tree for my branch of the Blongs is:-

Jack Smallhorn supplied much background information and details of my family in Portarlington, but was unable to say what the exact relationship between my direct ancestor, Elizabeth Blong and the Smallhorns actually was.
It would appear from this that Elizabeth Blong (my direct ancestor) was not a sister of the Sarah Blong who married Joshua Smallhorn. So if the families did intermarry it must have been a generation or more earlier. Though I have doubts on the reliabily of Jack Smallhorn's data earlier than 1850. The best guess that I can make on the inter-relationship between the Blong families is therefore:-
All these familes have died out in Portarlington, so I have not been able to get any more information. The missing and/or incomplete records make further progress difficult. The Blongs really cannot be traced with any reliability across this gap in the records.
