Clonmore map

Peter Blong was born in 1818 and died in Clonmore in 1904. One of his sons went to Widnes, Lancs. And this information comes from Brian Peters in New Zealand who is a descendant of the Peter Blong who went to Widnes.

Of the two twins, Catherine & Bridget in the tree above, Bridget married and stayed in the area and inherited the family's cottage. It was about 500 yds behind the cottage that their direct descendants live in today. The original family cottage is now owned by somebody else.

There is a Christopher Blong in Clonsast and Clonbulloge in Griffith's in 1853, who is presumably a brother of this Peter (but he could equally have been his father). There is a death of a Christopher Blong recorded in Edenderry District in 1895 aged 80, i.e. born circa 1815, which points further to Christopher having been a brother. As does the fact that it was only their 3rd son who was named Christopher.
