This is probably him in 1841 census, son of a younger Richard & Ann Pugh. The Llanfachreth records show a Richard Pugh baptised to Richard and Ann Pugh (a farmer of Caerheuad, Llanfachreth) on 8 June 1829 However the address is different from that of Richard & Ann Pugh who parented 4 children at Llanfachreth between 1819 and 1824. One cannot rule this in or out. I have been unable to find "our" Evan Pugh born to Richard and Ann Pugh in 1826.
1841 census shows a 10 year old Richard Pugh, son pf Richard & Ann Pugh in Dolgellau. The chap born June 1829 would have been 11 on the date of the census, but they tended to be a bit inexact with dates at this time, so this could be him
1851 census shows a Richard Pugh, servant at Bodowen, Uchmynydd part of "Llanaber, a parish county Merioneth, 1½ mile N. of Barmouth, its post town, and 8 miles E. of Dolgelly. It is situated at the mouth of the river Man, overlooking Cardigan Bay. The parish includes the town of Barmouth, and the hamlets of Isymynydd and Uchmynydd.". This is probably our man
1861 census shows a Richard Pugh (age 31) living with a widowed mother Anne (b1788) and a sister Catherine (aged 40) at Uwchygarreg, part of Llanfihangel Y Pennant. This does not appear to be the man we want. Wrong place of birth, and mother has wrong place of birth
Richard Pugh 1788
