Emrys Pugh has in his possession the two photos below. They had come from "Uncle John", John R Evans and I believe that the balance of probabilty is that these are both of his mother, Jane Thomas.
The first is of a girl around 20 taken by Humphrey's Photographic Gallery & Fine Art Studio, that dates from aroud 1885, and is proably taken of Jane Thomas aged 21 in 1886, the year of her marriage to Henry Evans.
The second is taken in Carnarvon before 1900. This is probably Jane Thomas just before her death from TB in 1899. She would have been 34 years old.
HUMPHREYS Fine Art Gallery, 13 Castle Sq, Carnarvon appears in trade directories for 1880, 1883, they then appear as just HUMPHREYS Hugh 14 Castle Square, Carnarvon in trade directories 1889, 1895 1889, 1895. Note subtle change in name, plus change in address. Given the period that the Hugh Humphrey Studio operated it would be consistent with dating this photo to a later period of their existence (negative number 11936), so my estimate of a girl aged 21 taken in 1886 would be possible - take 10 photographs a day, 200 days a year, for 5.5 years to get to 11,000.

TAYLOR A& G operating from 24 High St, Carnarvon appear in trade directories of 1880, 1883, 1889, 1895, but not later (the next directory was published in 1907) , So this woman could have been photographed any time between 1880 and 1901 (death of Victoria). Taylors was a chain of photographers with 24 shops in Wales.

Below is an amalgam of the two photos to try to see if it is the same woman. I have given them the same hairstyle and clothes. One can neither rule it out or in!. My best guess is that it is, and that Uncle John had both because it was his mother, and they are the same woman.
