| And to see where people fit,
this is a simplified chart of how the origins are believed to exist. The man
at the top of the chart, David Grant of Ballyhabooley, is 12 generations back
from me. |

| Commentary |
|
| The
DNA analysis results from the lab show that the DNA samples from me
(g-g-grandson of Stephen Grant of Shinrone above), from David R Grant in
Canada (g-g-grandson of |
|
| William of
Shinrone above) and Leo Grant (direct decendant of John Grant the convict)
all lead back to a common ancestor. |
|
|
| However,
the sample from Jer Grant is completely different from the expected result,
so either the Grants of Moyaliffe are unconnected to the Grants of Shinrone
and the Grants of |
|
| Moyne
(extremely unlikely), or there has been an event like the second marriage of
a widow to a Grant, with the result that the children of her first marriage
assumed the surname |
|
| Grant.To
test the possible variations I need to find Grant descentants of either/both
Christopher in Australia and James in USA. Either of these should show either
the same root as Jer Grant or |
|
| the root of the
other thee samples analysed. |
|
|
| The other issue to
be resolved is to try to split out the various branches of the Grants in
Kilkenny/Waterford to see how or if their DNA has moved. I need to find more
subjects here. |
