Children of Alexander Steedman

This web site has this chart of children of Alexander Steedman (and it is said Catherine Crawford)

Alexander Steedman (son of John Steedman and Isobel Paterson) was born April 1721 in Dron, Perthshire, Scotland,. This birth is given on ScotsPeople 30/04/1721 ALEXANDER STEEDMAN son of JOHN STEEDMAN at Dron /PERTH

He married Catherine Crawford on 1767 (on that tree, but I can find nothing at ScotlandsPeople or LDS)

It appears unlikely that they had such a large family at this time and is probably the agglomeration by the researcher of two or more families. I have included only the siblings as who are born in the same place as Bathia Steedman, ie Abernethy.

Children of Alexander Steedman (and nowhere can I find mention of his wife's name) are

1. Thomas Steedman, b. Abt. 1767, Meadows, Carssaw (I cannot find this on ScotlandsPeople)
2. Katharine Steedman, b. Abt. 1767, Abernethy, Perthshire
3. Elspeth Steedman, b. Aft. 1767, Meadows, Carssaw, Perthshire (I cannot find this on ScotlandsPeople)

15. , b. 1784, Brothel/Broadwell, Abernethy, Perthshire

In fact if one pursues the Abernethy link one gets the following children born to an Alexander Steedman on ScotlandsPeople, so it is unclear to me why the above researched thought that 1 to 15 above were all from that family.

08/07/1767 KATHARINE STEIDMAN to ALEXANDER STEIDMAN Abernethy (Perth)
18/09/1768 ISOBEL STEIDMAN to ALEXANDER STEIDMAN Abernethy (Perth)

15/10/1780 un-named child STEEDMAN to ALEXR. STEEDMAN Abernethy (Perth) This would appear to be Bathia from census info.
28/03/1784 CHRISTIAN STEEDMAN to ALEXANDER STEEDMAN Abernethy (Perth)

Of these the entry for the "un-named child" in 1780 is

"ABERNETHY, village in Perthshire, and parish, partly also in Fife. The village stands 7 3/4 miles south east of Perth, was anciently a seat of Culdees, and a capital of Pictavia; contains an ancient round tower, similar to the famous round towers of Ireland; presents now a plain, modern appearance, and has a post-office with a money order department, under Newburgh, a railway station, an Established church, a United Presbyterian church, and a recently enlarged public school for 362 scholars. Pop. 906. – The parish contains also Aberargie village, includes Mugdrum Island, and is nearly 5 miles long and about 4 miles broad. Acres in Perthshire, 7577; in Fife, 1967. Pop. 1586 and 128. About one-third of the surface is low, rich land around and near the confluence of the Earn and the Tay; and the rest is part of the Ochill Hills, cloven by Glenfarg. ." Wilson, Rev. John, The Gazetteer of Scotland by Rev. John Wilson, 1882
